From
the Rector's Study
Anything
but Ordinary Time
With
the close of the
Easter season we
enter into the
Season after Pentecost.
Some refer to this
as ordinary time.
But here at St.
Aidan's
this is
anything but ordinary
time. We
live in extraordinary
times.
At pentecost
we are sent
out
into the world
the preach the
Gospel. As a
parish we are
entering into
at ime of exploration
of what the
reaching
out into the
world will look
like. We are
going to examine
what it means
to be St. Aidan's.
This will involve
a visioning
process
that Senior
Warden
Fred Parkinson the
vestry and
myself
are planning.
In the next
week of so
look to this
space for a
piece written
by Fred to
tell you more
about how you
can be part
of this vision.
CHRISTIAN
FORMATION
I
am please to announce
that Becky Rankin
has agreed to accept
a call to be the
volunteer Christian
Formation Director.
We have not had anyone
in this position
for awhile and I am
grateful that Becky
has felt the call
to this incredibly
important ministry.

Speaking
of exciting our youth
are planning their
first mission trip
this summer in late
July. I am pleased
that 14 youth and
4 adults have responded
to the call to participate
in the REACH work
camp. I know that
this will be a life
changing experience
for them.
JERUSALEM
2012
I
am in the early stages
of planning a parish
trip to the Holy
Land for the summer
of 2012. Tentative
dates are July 19-29.
It is too early at
this time to give
an intinerary or
cost, but I wanted
to let people start
to think about this
trip. It has been
a long time since
we have had a parish
trip and I am excited
to offer this opportunity.
The tour company
comes highly recommended
by several of my
friends and the guide
has led trips for
the Diocese of Los
Angeles and the Presiding
Bishop. If you are
interested in getting
more information
as the plans develop,
please
email
me.
