Children
(Grades Pre-K-and K through
Grade 4)
At
St. Aidan's we use the Godly
Play curriculum for our youngest
students. We have expanded
the program up through grade
4. Godly Play focuses on
teaching our children the
basic Bible stories through
creative story telling that
uses a set of manipulatives.
The children are then encouraged
to respond to the stories
by re-telling the story using
the manipulatives or though
art. The program is a Montessori
based program.
Children
(5th, and 6th grade)
This
year we are using a new program
that will focus on the church
year and the meanings of the
various seasons. This will
be done by using both some custom
designed lessons and Seasons
of the Spirit, a lectionary
based curriculum that focuses
on the Church year. We will
also be using Kids in Common
which is a new book of common
prayer for later elementary
school children. We hope to
help instill the idea of prayer
as a normal part of life with
this age group. Lynn Meadows
will be leading this class.
